What is Coven?

Coven was originally a Scottish word from the late Middle Ages (circa 1500) which meant a gathering of people. It derives from the Latin convoco which means to be together or to gather which also gave the English word convene (from the French to agree) and the French word convent.

2003 On October 3, Laurel Leader described Athena Schaefer in the midst of a seductive ceremony to protect her city from the storm. Schaefer and his family are among the 1,000 Wickens currently living in Laurel, Maryland. The Schaffers belong to a clan of witches called the American Head of the Sherwood Monument. “We are working with several pantheons – Scandinavians, Egyptians, Greek-Celts,” said Athena. for the Summer Country” (the provision or our deadline from now on); There is no one way for everyone”.

Organization of a Coven

The Outer Court:

The Outer Court is a symbolic place created to prepare new members for their future initiation. It is in this "courtyard" that the future members are present during their years of study. The Outer Court is made up of all the members of the Coven (1 °, 2 ° and 3 °) as well as future initiates, but also those of other covens and traditions. The Outer Court is the most prominent court, it is here that future initiates meet other members, and also here that other members see the potential of each future initiate. It is with this courtyard that the "Rituals of the Outer Court" are carried out, which are so-called public rituals.

The Inner Court:

The Inner Court is none other than the Coven itself.

The Central Court:

The Central Court is the place of the Foyer of our Coven. It is the meeting place of the leaders of the Coven. This is where all decisions for the Coven are made, from accepting new members, to purchasing a new cauldron. Any decision concerning the Coven, is voted with the Interior Court, but the Central Court can put a veto on certain thing.

Black Dogs :

Black Dogs are unique in a Coven.

Leaders

The leaders of a Coven are called "Priests" or "Priestess". He elects a leader who will have the title of "High Priest" or "High Priestess". Usually they are led by wizards of the third circle .

In the magical world

The decision to join a Coven is a decision fraught with meaning because its members owe each other mutual and unconditional help. This is why the majority of wizards are not part of the Coven.

There is an old wizarding law that a league (3 miles = about 5 km) should separate the meeting place of one coven from another, in order to avoid any conflict of interest. There is also another traditional rule that says covens should not know too much about the private affairs of other covens or their members. Only leaders should stay in touch with each other. The reason for this rule is related to the time of the persecutions, because what people did not know they could not talk about.
